Summary: The following talk features Micaela Mantegna who is a video games lawyer who is an advocate for ways to improve the metaverse. She explains in this video how the metaverse is failing to reach its potential of being inclusive and accessible in its current state. Currently, access to the metaverse is based on how much an individual or organization can pay. She suggests that in order to make the metaverse more accessible, the metaverse needs to be more connected. Mantegna recommends that users should be able to bring their digital images or digital goods from one platform to another. By having consistency across apps, users will not have to repurchase items or redesign their avatars. Companies could do this by having legal contracts with each other that will allow for items to cross between platforms. The metaverse is still in development, but these actions need to be taken early on before individuals are excluded.
