Summary: The following article provides a similar flow to 5 Dysfunctions of a Team in which a scenario is first used to get important themes in business analytics and ethics across for later discussion. The scenario describes a grocery company that has a massive dataset based on its customers’ cards and what they buy, and they were thinking about selling this information to a life/health insurance company. In this scenario, both companies are trying to keep their customers in the dark about the partnership in order to return gains for each respectively. The article then goes into several people’s discussions on their thoughts on the scenario (both the benefits and downfalls). The overarching theme is that this is ethically immoral because customers did not even realize their data was being collected at the grocery store, and this could affect their insurance rates if the insurance company bought the information from the store.
