Summary: The following article presents a direct call to action to law makers to increase legislation to prevent against bias and discrimination in artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The author describes how, intentionally or not, AI algorithms can perpetuate inequalities that exist among the populations that they deal with. The author, and the group they are speaking on behalf of, currently feel that current policies are not adequate in preventing highly consequential racial biases from being accentuated. They believe that people of color, women, and other groups have been left as a disadvantage as a result of years and years of allowing this to happen.
