Summary: The following article discusses how data can be used to compare countries’ performances in the COVID-19 lockdown. There was a controversial article that boldly claimed that lockdowns were not effective in reducing deaths from COVID-19. This argument was debunked, but there is still a lot of insight that can be gained on which country had the most effective lockdowns. However, determining the impact of lockdowns is difficult considering that values vary by country. Performing a cost-benefit analysis does serve to determine who had the best response if the economy is valued over lives or vice versa. For this reason, it is difficult to compare lockdowns and what should be done for future disease outbreaks.
