Summary: This article delves into ethical concerns about AI applications within the healthcare industry. The author reviewed the AI creation process and proposed a novel “ABCD” approach to understand the ethical challenges that arise when deploying AI in healthcare. The ‘ABCD’ approach can be categorized into the following categories: accountability, bias, confidentiality, and decision-making. For data scientists, understanding the principles of medical ethics is crucial in the healthcare industry. We must be cautious about data usage and question data consent during AI deployment. Additionally, although AI can promote fast decision-making, we should pay attention to patients’ autonomy, where we should also allow them to have options to choose for themselves.
