Summary: Artificial intelligence systems in the workplace are taking a toll on the mental health of employees, according to a poll conducted by the American Psychological Association. Both the threat of AI for employee jobs and the surveillance systems monitoring productivity have been causing greater levels of anxiety among the workforces. It is critical that data scientists examine the human effect of AI technologies being developed and implemented. These technologies may also limit the privacy of employees or collect excessive amounts of data. Balancing the demands of the stakeholders (the employers) with the needs and safety of employees is crucial to maintaining healthy and productive AI systems in practice.
