Summary: The following article focuses on the ethical considerations for data scientists working with company clients. Data scientists must consult with clients before making any decision about the goal or objective of a project. It is also a data scientist’s responsibility to protect confidential information that should only be discussed or interpreted with other parties under the confidentiality agreement or with the expressed consent of the client. In the event of conflicts of interest, data scientists should confirm services with the client to prevent the responsibilities toward one client risking involvement with another. Finally, the article identifies common misconducts that occur within the industry, such as fraudulent data practices, mixing prejudice with data, or creating/promoting a false reality with data science results.
