Summary: The following article describes why there is an increasing demand from consumers to stop having so much of their data collected and used by companies; even employees of these companies are frustrated. The result of companies vacuuming up so much data is for predictions and business analytics, or to sell to others, resulting in companies having way too much of consumers’ data than they should have. There are some laws and regulations put into place to minimize risk. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) strengthens privacy laws in the digital world by the European Union. Almost every major enterprise must have a GDPR compliance strategy. It requires organizations to be more secure and therefore, safer from breaches, they seem more trustworthy to customers and makes sure that companies do not hold on to too much data.
