Summary: The following article describes how data ethics is an extremely important aspect of how a company should approach its collection and use of data. However, as data science is a relatively new and rapidly progressing field, it can be hard for company leaders to know exactly what can and cannot be done with data, but there are 4 points that are generally agreed upon: 1). Private data must remain private; 2). Customers who provide their data must be able to know everything about how it is being used by the company; 3). Customer data should never be used to interfere with human will; and 4). Companies should make a conscious effort to avoid creating bias with customer data in any way. These biases include sexism, racism, and countless others.
