Summary: The following article discusses how Indigenous Peoples have been oppressed in numerous ways, and with the growth of big data and data analytics, a large portion of data about Indigenous Peoples, lands, cultures, and histories is held by non-Indigenous governments. This article lays out the CARE (Collective Benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility, and Ethics) framework for the governance of Indigenous data.
