Summary: This article discusses data ethics leadership in the finance industry. Particularly, LLoyds Bank, one of the world’s largest banking groups has recently introduced a position “Group Head of Data Ethics” in which this individual will oversee the bank’s legal and moral responsibilities in regards to data collection and analysis. Given the role of AI and automation in finance, their processes require ethical governance to prevent decisions that can harm massive amounts of customers. This is especially relevant to my practicum project with Bank of America and will be something we must discuss with our sponsor during our kickoff meeting. It will be interesting to hear our sponsor liaison speak on data ethics leadership at Bank of America and how they are integrating ethics into their work with AI.
