Summary: The following articles describes how we live in a world where we are consistently online and using apps, and these companies have access to some of our personal information. In 2020, there was a rise in the use of online meeting platforms, such as Zoom. It was found that Zoom was able to match the user information to individuals’ LinkedIn Profiles. In recent years, there has also been a rise in cybersecurity, and there has been an emphasis on this in order to protect data. There was a hacker group that targeted a law firm in Texas and they were able to get access to the firm’s document management system which had information about their clients. This sort of situation served as an example that some private data can be released not because a company is making it public on their own or using sensitive personal data, but because there was hacking that got through its cybersecurity processes.
