Summary: The following article discusses how with the rapid advancements in technology, there has also been an increase in deepfakes. This is when AI-generated synthetic media is used for malicious intentions. Deepfakes can be extremely harmful and detrimental to people’s personas. This brings in the question of what can people do about deepfakes that cross ethical guidelines. This can contribute to fake digital identities for fraud. The author believes that big platforms have a moral obligation and responsibility to prevent harm when creating and distributing deepfakes.
