Summary: The following article highlights 6 ethical issues in healthcare in 2020 (and beyond). The ethical issues are 1). taking advantage of Big Data without dehumanizing patients; 2). safeguarding patient privacy when using population health data; 3). ensuring equal access to customized medicine; 4). reconciling patient care decisions with financial management; 5). implementing artificial intelligence and robotics ethically; and 6). devising ethical responses to pandemics and other widespread medical emergencies. The article does not expressly provide solutions to these issues, but it does provide several questions pertaining to each category for the researcher to evaluate. The article concludes by urging leaders in healthcare to incorporate ethics into the business side of their responsibilities.
